The world of Boarding Party is one that’s stuck in a 17th century-esqe setting where the golden age of piracy never ended. It is a large, terrestrial planet whose surface is mostly water. However, unlike Earth’s geography, Stashwick has few continents. Instead, it is made up of thousands of smaller islands (not including those who are cut off from the rest of the world, deserted, or uninhabited). Lots and lots of land accessible by boat is one of the primary reasons why piracy is alive and well there. There are many different kinds of species in Boarding Party. Humans are the most common, those things breed like rabbits. Then, there’s your standard fantasy races like elves and dwarves. Anthropomorphic animal-human-hybrid looking things are also common, such as dogpeople, catpeople, and cowpeople. Vampires, ghosts, and zombies exist, although they’re still “legend” to most; You’d be hard-pressed to find any roaming around unless you sail on stranger tides…
Months of the Stashwick Year
There are twelve months in the average Stashwick year. They used to have normal names, but Queen Horatio decided changed them:Janus, Febhaestus, Marcus, Aprillies, Mayeliae, Juntoun, Juletto, Augusophrosyne, Septaliaeus, Octaeus, November, Deocaerus
The Horatio Empire
The Horatio Empire is Stashwick’s answer to Great Britain. They are a stuffy, aristocratic, and capitalistic government that never seems to be pleased with what they already have. The Horatio Empire spans many islands and regularly conquers more and more, thanks to their powerful navy.
The McCoy and Spiner Trading Company
The McCoy and Spiner Trading Company are a conglomerate based in Port Bashir. They are Stashwick’s Amazon; they have their fingers in just about every pie that can earn a profit. It wouldn’t be odd to hear that the Company owns a monopoly on a certain island, with every store on its surface belonging to them.
The Kodos Konfederation
While the Horatio Empire is modeled after the history of The British Empire, the Kodos Konfederation is based on the Spanish Conquistadors. While the Horatio Empire’s main reason for conquering is focused primarily on money, religious influence is maybe third reason, perhaps an annotation underneath “Increased Power.” However, the Kodos Konfederation’s priority is to spread their religon—wether you want to practice it or not.The forts the Kodos build are prime targets for pirates, since—although they fight back—they’re stationary targets filled with plunder. It was in one of these forts that “Sawbones” Sawyer Cain first got his zombic crew (as seen in Episode 4, “The Return of the Pillaging Dead Part I”).
Pirates in Stashwick
Pirates do not have a government. Instead, they operate by “If you mess with me, I will stab you and take all of your stuff.” This is a pretty effective strategy, since it’s far easier to take down a merchant vessel over a fellow pirate. Not only is it far more work, but you’ll also get less out of it, since pirates would rather destroy every piece of treasure than let anyone else have it.Pirates are the #1 enemy of practically any powerful group in Stashwick (Most importantly the Horatio Empire, the Kodos Konfederation, and the McCoy and Spiner Company). Pirate waters are hard to conquer, and there’s a lot less profit for you if your shit is constantly getting stolen. Captured pirates are fated to the gallows. The pirates aren’t necessarily good guys, but if they’re fucking over the evil invaders and greedy capitalists, than they look pretty noble. (Even though pirates are greedy capitalists. They’re just cooler ones.)One of the most popular pirate ports in Stashwick is Saint Khan’s Port. It’s like a mirror-universe version of Port Bashir; where Port Bashir is clean and everybody is bound by law, Saint Khan’s Port is a chaotic mess where the only law is “Navies fuck off.”
Pirates in Stashwick
Winters are very intense in Stashwick. They’re a great sweep of bitter cold, freezing the far-reaching oceans into a thick sheet of ice. It is extremely important that any seafaring individuals dock before this great freezing, lest they get marooned in the middle of an icy wasteland.
Ice Raiders
Ice Raiders are a special subset of pirates who thrive during the winter. These masked scoundrels use sled dogs to traverse the frozen-over sea, preying on any stuck ship they come across.

The Cadaverous Captain

The skeletal captain of the Festering Wound who’s recently finished his fifteen-year-long marination at the bottom of the ocean. A pirate for extremely personal reasons, nothing can stop his vengeance—not even death!Cain stands at 6’3,” which would be a lot more intimidating if he had some muscle to go along with it. His clothes, along with his boney physique, are weathered from the fifteen-year-long brine he took at the bottom of the Soval Sea. He wears a pouch on his belt, something that every member of the Festering Wound is required to wear. Half of its contents are small, spherical bullets for pistols, and the other half is filled with nails in which to patch up the ship.
